Beyond the Drip: Leadership and Understanding the Scope and Impact of Infusion Nursing Practice [virtual]

Includes a Live Web Event on 04/13/2026 at 1:30 PM (EDT)

Infusion nursing is no longer just about technique—it's about leadership, strategy, and shaping the future of patient care. This session redefines infusion nursing as a dynamic and strategic specialty, emphasizing the critical role of leadership in driving excellence across clinical settings. Infusion nurses operate at the intersection of advanced clinical practice, patient advocacy, and interdisciplinary collaboration—making leadership not optional, but essential.

Drawing from recent evidence-based research, the presentation highlights how nurse leaders influence organizational culture, improve clinical outcomes, and enhance team performance. In infusion environments, where precision and safety are paramount, leadership ensures that care is not only technically sound but also aligned with best practices and evolving standards.

The session explores the broad scope of infusion nursing—from core responsibilities and regulatory frameworks to emerging technologies and specialized competencies. Leadership is examined as a catalyst for innovation, resilience, and professional growth, especially in navigating challenges like staffing shortages, compliance demands, and care coordination.

Real-world examples of leadership in action will showcase how mentorship, visibility, and strategic support elevate infusion nursing teams. The presentation concludes with a call to action for health care leaders to invest in the development, certification, and recognition of infusion nurses as key contributors to patient-centered care.
